Registrations open for the new Academy of Dance Arts Scholastic Year

The Academy of Dance Arts has opened registrations for the new Scholastic Year 2017/18.

The Academy of Dance Arts is a professional dance school which offers ballet classes to students from the age of three up to vocational level. The Academy also offers Movement Classes for children between one and three years and classes in Spanish Dance, Jazz, Hip Hop and Contemporary.

The Academy is centrally located in Mosta close to one of Malta’s largest shopping centres. It is easily accessible by car as well as public transport and has convenient on-street parking.

The Academy boasts one of Malta’s largest and most modern dance facilities including five state-of-the-art studios all of which are equipped with Harlequin sprung floors imported directly from Luxembourg. Harlequin is a world-leader in the supply of advanced technology flooring for dance and performing arts. This is very important in ensuring that students minimise the risk of injury. All the studios and the rest of the school are fully airconditioned and offer full accessibility to people with disabilities. The studios are very spacious and offer students the opportunity to enjoy their space and sense of freedom. The Academy also offers classes in purpose-built studios at San Anton School in Mgarr.

All the Academy’s teachers are fully qualified in their respective fields. This ensures that the students get the best training possible.

Ballet students at the Academy of Dance Arts follow the Cecchetti Method and take the exams of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, UK (ISTD). Spanish students take exams of the Spanish Dance Society, UK (SDS). Throughout the years, the students of the Academy have all achieved excellent results in their exams.

The Academy will be organising its school show in March 2018. All the students of the Academy participate in this dance spectacular which offers them a fantastic opportunity to perform in front of an audience. The Academy has recently organised a show at the Grandmaster’s Palace in Valletta under the patronage of Her Excellency Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca. The Academy made a donation of €2,000 to the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation.

The Academy also offers its students the opportunity to attend intensive courses both locally and abroad. In fact, only last January, the Academy organised a ballet intensive course with Ms Kate Simmons in its own studios in Mosta. Ms Simmons is the Principal of KS Dance which is one of the UK’s leading dance schools. Earlier this summer, a group of twenty students joined a week-long ballet intensive course at Moorlands in the UK. The Principal and two of the student’s teachers joined the students in this course.

Furthermore, this summer, six senior students at the Academy successfully auditioned for other intensive courses in the most prestigious schools in Europe including the Paris Opera, the Royal Ballet and the Northern Ballet school, UK.
