Mġarr housing estate gets an embellishment
Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Minister Ian Borg yesterday inaugurated embellishment work by the Works and Infrastructure Department in the area surrounding the housing estate in Mġarr.
The project was aimed at renovating this public area after designs had been approved by the Planning Authority and a permit was subsequently issued.
Infrastructural and embellishment work was carried out by government workers, while tiling work was handled by a private contractor chosen through expressions of interest.
Walls that had suffered considerable water damage and had also been affected by tree roots were replaced with new double walls that have been treated with membrane to prevent water damage and guard against damage from tree roots. In addition, all the walls have been repainted.
The Minister commended the work done by this government department and spoke about the importance of constantly improving public areas, both in terms of aesthetic quality and also with regard to security, sustainability and accessibility.
