Leading local drama school, Stagecoach Malta, has made the news in the popular business publication Global Franchise. The magazine, which is dedicated to highlighting and facilitating franchise opportunities around the world, is distributed in naturally high net worth environments including First and Business Class passengers on numerous airlines namely Delta, Cathay, Etihad and Virgin.

In its latest edition, the magazine features an article on the success of the Stagecoach franchise, which operates over 680 schools on four continents. Since 1988, Stagecoach has taught over one million children and grown to incorporate 300 franchisees.

Stagecoach Malta principal Edward Mercieca is one of those franchisees. He opened the first local Stagecoach school in 1998 and, along with this wife Marika, now operates seven schools across the islands.

“It was an honour for us to be included in Global Franchise –a magazine that highlights prosperous franchise businesses the world over,” Mercieca says. “We are very proud to be part of the international Stagecoach success story and to have brought the brand to Malta. Drama-related opportunities were very limited locally at the time and Stagecoach provided exciting opportunities to children interested in the arts. It has been wonderful to watch the business grow and develop, and, especially, to watch so many children flourish thanks to the Stagecoach system.”

Today, Stagecoach Malta provides over 60 classes each week and employs 25 teachers, making it one of the largest performing arts schools on the island. “We’re now entering our 20th year and getting ready to welcome another set of students to classes at the start of term! This promises to be another exciting year for Stagecoach Malta,” Mercieca added.
