Loving Vincent: a live premiere and Q&A at Eden Cinemas

-

For one night only, art aficionados are welcome to experience the film premiere of Loving Vincent on Monday 9 October.

The world got a peek at this film when a stunning trailer was posted online, becoming an overnight sensation. What viewers didn’t see was the many human hands behind the project. 95 pair of hands to be precise and a pair of those belonging to local artist, Julian Mallia, who goes by the name Julinu - the only Maltese artist selected to join the international team of artists working on the film.

Loving Vincent will premiere at Eden Cinemas on 9 October and cinemagoers will be treated to a complimentary glass of wine and an art exhibition set up by Julinu from 7.30pm. The film will start at 8pm, followed by a question and answer session with Special Guests, broadcast live from the National Gallery presented by BFI London Film Festival.

A unique animated film in which every frame is a painting, ‘Loving Vincent’ begins after the death of van Gogh, and follows one man’s quest to discover how he really died.

He is believed to have killed himself, but he seemingly went from completely calm to suicidal in just a few short weeks. In van Gogh’s own style of painting, we go along on an exploration into his extraordinary life and mysterious death.

Loving Vincent stars Douglas Booth, Jerome Flynn, Chris O’Dowd, Oscar-nominee Saoirse Ronan, Aiden Turner, Helen McCrory, Eleanor Tomlinson and John Sessions.

Get a look behind the scenes of the film and into Van Gogh’s life like never before with a live Q+A session with directors Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman, cast, National Gallery curator and special guests for one night only.

Normal shows will be shown from 13 October for a very limited time. Explore the mind of one of the greatest artists and buy tickets from www.edencinemas.com.mt or the Eden Cinemas box office.
