Wonderful tonight

-

I remember my mother, who is deceased, telling me about the day she came with her husband and children to our house. He went to see the sheep with his children while she waited outside in the car.

I refused to cry when I heard the hollow words expressed by those who denied the facts she exposed.

The mention of the FBI brings to mind the meddling of the Russians in the US presidential election. If it was mafia-style elimination, maybe the Italians can be of greater help, considering the porosity of our border with Sicily. Assassins are imported and can be sent back very easily.

What took place is the result of a conspiracy: people who should have spoken out long ago chose comfort and money over truth. People on both sides of the political divide sit on the fence while the rape of our natural environment takes place; or took part in it because large sums moneys were involved.

I hope this tragedy changes the political landscape forever. May each individual who seeks fairness start voting for small political parties and may the big political parties splinter. In this way, negotiation throughout a legislature is the order of the day and there is scrutiny on the institutions which should protect each one of us. May checks and balances start working in this country. May we stop the gobbling up of our natural environment. And now, even our urban landscape is being destroyed.

The death of a modern martyr should not be in vain. Joe Portelli Nadur
