Awards for the Concours d’Elegance
The MTA chairman Dr Gavin Gulia was recently invited to attend the ninth edition of the Malta Classic, which took place between 5 and 8 October, to present the winners of the Concours d’Elegance with their award.
The Malta Classic is made up of three events, the Mellieha Hill Climb, the Concours d’Elegance and the Mdina Grand Prix. In total 60 cars participated in the various events. Of these 60 participating cars, 15 were brought from abroad, together with their drivers and crew, from countries such as France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and the UK.
During his visit on 6 October, Dr Gulia was shown around all the participating vintage cars that formed the Concours d’Elegance part of the Malta Classic. Dr Gulia then went on to present the trophies to the winners of this stage of the event.
Following the presentation of these awards, Dr Gulia said: “Events are one of our greatest attractions, particularly in the non-summer months, and the Malta Classic presents the opportunity for many to travel to Malta to view some incredible classic cars, with spectators coming from all over Europe as well as from Japan and the US.”
Dr Gulia continued by praising the organisers for going a step further than just organising the event, as they took all foreign participants for a visit to Gozo before the competition started. Dr Gulia concluded by thanking all the stakeholders in making this event and all similar events possible and augured all the best for the future.
