Yesterday’s top of the table clash between Napoli and Inter Milan ended in a goalless draw although it was an entertaining match throughout.

Napoli now move to the 25-point mark followed by Inter in second place on 23. Juventus and Lazio can move to just one point away from Inter if they win their matches today - Juventus away to Udinese and Lazio at home against Cagliari.

Despite the lack of goals, both sides tried hard to get away with all the three points and both goalkeers were kept busy, especially during the first half.

Yesterday Sampdoria-Crotone .......................5-0 Jose Callejon’s angled drive and then Dries Mertens’ follow-up from point-blank range.

Napoli started to take control and Insigne went from behind Danilo D’Ambrosio to head Hamsik’s clever ball over the top, forcing Handanovic into a fine save.

Mauro Icardi tested Pepe Reina at the near post on 40 minutes for the first genuine shot on target. Moments later, the offside trap failed and Reina palmed a Borja Valero half-volley over the bar from eight metres.

In the second half, Inter went close through a Candreva shot cleared off the line by Albiol, but at the other end, Hamsik, Insigne and Mertens were close for Napoli.

Meanwhile, Sampdoria moved temporarily into fifth place in the standings on 17 points after a runaway 5-0 home win against Crotone.

Ferrari gave the Genova-based club the lead on the third minute and after captain Quagliarella converted a penalty in the 11th minute to make it 2-0, the match seemed already won and lost. The blucerchiati continued to dominate and it was Caprari who added a third goal in the 39th minute following a perfect pass from Zapata.

Sampdoria reduced their rhythm in the second half, but were still good enough to score another two goals through substitutes Linetty and Kownacki.
