Grandmaster’s Palace lit up for Christmas

-

The Grandmaster’s Palace in Valletta has once again been illuminated with Christmasthemed digital projections. The annual feature was launched by President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, along with Valletta 2018 chairman Jason Micallef and Parliamentary Secretary for Consumer Pro- tection and Valletta 2018 Deo Debattista.

This year’s project brought together the Valletta 2018 team and third-year students at MCAST’s Institute of Creative Arts, who are working towards bachelor of arts degrees in Interactive Media, Graphic Design, and Game Art. The production team also worked closely with Mad About Video.

PS Debattista said: “Legacy has always been a crucial part of Valletta 2018, and we demonstrate this with facts, not words. Through this project, many of these students have got their first taste of what it is like to work in their respective industries.”

Valletta 2018 chairman Jason Micallef added: “The celebrations are finally here, and these projections — as with all our other projects — keep getting better as the European Capital of Culture 2018 fast approaches. I encourage the public to join us next year as we launch our opening celebrations on 20 January.”

The projections are on at St George’s Square until 30 December, running every half an hour between 6pm and 11pm. A final show is also scheduled as part of the national New Year’s Eve festivities in Valletta.
