European family therapists in Malta
The Institute of Family Therapy - Malta (IFT-Malta) is this year hosting the 10th European Family Therapy AssociationTraining Institutes Chamber Meeting of Trainers, which shall be held in Valletta between 6 and 8 October.
The 100-plus foreign delegates arriving in Malta for this prestigious event are all trainers and members of the Training Institutes’ Chamber of the European Family Therapy Association.
The meeting, which is being organised by the EFTA-TIC Board in conjunction with the Maltese hosts, is typically held bi-annually in a key city around Europe. Previous hosting cities included Belgrade, Serbia (2015); Iasi, Romania (2013); Brussels, Belgium (2011); and Krakow, Poland (2009).
The aim of such meetings is to create a platform for learning and interchange between systemic trainers, practitioners and researchers around Europe. EFTA-TIC, which embraces family therapy trainers and institutes, and invites them to participate in its events, touches upon varied challenges and issues facing family therapists around Europe, namely legislation, training, sharing expertise, exchange of students, and research, to name a few. EFTA-TIC has also developed a set of training standards for family therapists, supervisors and institutes to adhere to. To date, it is composed of 134 institutes across 29 countries.
