Financial Literacy Survey Study on Maltese Investors

-

The Malta Association of Small Shareholders (MASS), with the support of FIMBank, the Malta Stock Exchange and academic staff from the University of Malta, has launched a survey designed to give insights into the levels of financial literacy amongst Maltese investors.

The specific objective of this ex- ercise is to gather extensive information on local investors’ market understanding, in an effort to enable the MASS to improve the educational services it provides to local investors, particularly the smaller ones. As part of this exercise, the Malta Stock Exchange has sent questionnaires by post to thousands of local investors for them to complete. Post-paid, selfaddressed envelopes have been enclosed with the questionnaires so that respondents may return the completed survey. Only one of either the Maltese or the English versions needs to be returned.

In spite of the very positive reaction by investors to this survey, the promoters look forward to receiving more completed questionnaires to ensure further data reliability. Survey questionnaires are to be sent by 31 December.

Participation in this survey will prove beneficial to all involved and will contribute to a successful exercise through which the MASS can further develop its services to the local investor.

The interpretation and analysis of the findings will be conducted by the academic staff and students of the University of Malta, in collaboration with MASS.
