Over the clouds, into the future

Sarah Zammit Munro A trip to a foreign country with free food and accommodation sounds too good to be true. With Erasmus +, you can sign up for training courses that expose you to new people and their ideas, diverse cultures and an opportunity to better one’s leadership skills and team work abilities. The experience of catching a flight to an unknown place and travelling for hours on end is al- ready a taste of what a wanderlust heart would desire. Something like this is an opportunity that should not be passed by.

Gabriel Lia, a Maltese participant in this training course explained that this was his third project with Erasmus+.

“It’s not about how much you know about the project’s topic but how much you’re willing to learn. When one considers everything, it boils down to the participants’ characters which make the distinction between one project and another.”

The five-day course was held in Šibenik, Croatia and consisted of workshops organised by Prisms, an NGO based in Malta. Activities, city tours and debates were the main events in this trip. The participants were encouraged to get to know each other as much as possible and interact with other cultures such as during the intercultural night when local food, drink and informa- tion were prepared by students from their respective countries. Apart from being a great addition for one’s CV, this opportunity opens doors for future collaborations and visits to foreign countries becomes much more possible.

If you would like to participate in such a project, contact Prisms at +356 7737 5525. Make sure you look out for calls for training opportunities on the Prisms Malta Facebook page or Youth Oppor- tunities Malta Facebook group. I encourage you to take up this initiative especially if you are spontaneous, open to new experiences and love meeting people.
