Fondazzjoni Pippo Celebrates Launch With Sports Day at Valletta FC
A new non-profit organisation which seeks to unite the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals of Maltese businesses with the needs of the local community has launched with a major CSR event.
Set up as the social wing of corporate services firm NM Group, Fondazzjoni Pippo is named to honour the memory of the late Pippo Muscat. To mark the official launch of the foundation, its first CSR event was held on 7 April.
Working in partnership with the Karl Vella Foundation (KVF), which aids children whose family members are unwell and unable to fully care for them, the group of children from KVF was taken to the Valletta FC Nursery Grounds for a fun sports day.
Fondazzjoni Pippo Founder Beppe Muscat said: “We’re thrilled to kick off our first Pippo event with a sports day for the children from the Karl Vella Foundation - not only do they get a day away from the troubles they undoubtedly face, but sport is a fantastic way to encourage physical and mental wellbeing.”
Fondazzjoni Pippo and NM Group’s fundraising efforts ensured the event was fully sponsored, covering all aspects including the toys and games, drinks and snacks, goodie bags, lunch and transport.
While NM Group staff ran the sports day, which included a variety of games such as football and catch, Pippo Ambassador Ben Camille made a special appearance and took part in some of the day’s activities.
“The staff from NM Group pulled out all the stops today to guarantee that these kids would have everything they could have imagined and more, from fun games and face-painting, to a hearty lunch and goodie bags to take home,” Mr Muscat continued.
“This kind of event is exactly what Fondazzjoni Pippo hopes to achieve, where we can bring businesses together to make strategic and relevant contributions to the local community, right when and where it matters most. The smiles on the children’s faces today is testament to that.”
With CSR events such as these, Fondazzjoni Pippo aims not only to bridge the gap between the business community and society, but also hopes to serve as a helping hand to other organisations and foundations as they support the less fortunate in Malta and Gozo.
