Citadel Insurance supports World Environment Day on June 5

-

On World Environment Day, 5 June, Citadel Insurance IS raising awareness about the environment through a number of initiatives. Since its inception in 1974, World Environment Day is the UN’s most important day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment and is nowadays widely celebrated in over 100 countries. Each year its theme focuses on a particularly pressing environmental concern and this year the attention is on beating plastic pollution.

World Environment Day is the day where communities are encouraged to do something to take care of the Earth and Citadel celebrates this day with the aim of increasing awareness among staff, clients as well as the public. This year Citadel has taken the environment as its focal point for Corporate Social Responsibility by embarking on another project to increase awareness about the bees, which play a vital role in global eco systems. To encourage customers who purchase environmentally friendly technologies, Citadel has for a number of years developed products with additional benefits for home and motor insurances.

Angela Tabone, Managing Director of Citadel Insurance, herself a committed environ- mentalist, said,

“World Environment Day is dedicated to positive environmental action and at Citadel we celebrate this day to increase awareness about the importance of the conservation of our environment. Through small actions in our everyday life, we can all contribute to make a difference. On this occasion, plants will be available for clients visiting our branches on the 5th, 6th and 8th of June, until stock lasts. In addition, on 5tJune we will be sponsoring 50% of the cost of electric cab rides in Valletta, a green means of transport which Citadel has been supporting for a number of years.“
