Altaro software beats industry giants to win ‘Company of the Year’ at International Storage Awards 2018

Altaro, a Malta-based software developer, scooped a major international award at the 2018 Storage Awards held in Central London, England this month, winning the Editor’s Choice – Company of the Year, despite stiff competition from many larger global players.

Altaro was founded in Malta, where it is headquartered. With 80 employees worldwide, Altaro is far smaller than a number of the other companies competing in the awards, which have 1000+ employees. Yet, Altaro pipped several multi-national competitors to the post, winning this prestigious award over overseas companies many times its size

The Storage Awards recognize the latest and greatest in innovation, excellence and user experience from the global storage industry and took place over five months of nomination and finalist voting. More than 47,000 online votes were cast across various categories.

Altaro was one of the contenders through its easy-to-use and affordable backup solutions for small and mid-market businesses (SMBs), Altaro VM Backup.

Talking about the win, Altaro Cofounder and CEO, David Vella said: “It’s great to be formally recognized by The Storage Awards and the editorial team at Storage Magazine as Company of the Year. Through our offering, high performance virtual backup is now accessible for all - without functionality and price restric- tions. More than 300 participants attended the awards ceremony at the Tower Hotel on 14 June.
