Cliff Zammit Stevens and Ira Losco team up for a good cause

-

Following the recent launch of his mother’s memorial foundation, The Marcy Foundation, renowned local tenor Cliff Zammit Stevens today announced the video release for his new single, Xemx, which also stars Ira Losco. The video, which features both Zammit Stevens and Losco, follows the singers as they walk together through the streets of Malta. As they do, they come across victims that represent The Marcy Foundation’s five pillars: domestic violence, drug abuse, mental health, HIV and child abuse. “As first glance, all of these victims seem absolutely fine but, when you take a closer look, they are actually really struggling,” Cliff explains, adding that the victims each wear a paper bag to represent the way they are feeling. “Thankfully, by the end of the video they break away from their problems, survive and become stronger. ‘Xemx’ is definitely a message of hope.” ‘Xemx’ – a well-known classic Maltese song first released in the 1970s – was written and composed by Dominic Grech. This new version was directed by Matthew Muscat Drago, while the song was produced by Howard Keith/Bettina Cassar, mixed by Howard Keith, and recorded at Jagged House Studios. “Today’s video launch marks an exciting next step for the Foundation and will hopefully help us to bring much-needed awareness to

our five pillars,” Cliff continues. “Meanwhile, I am looking forward to performing ‘Xemx’ live on stage with Ira in my 10th anniversary concert next month, as part of a wonderful and varied programme on the night.”

The Cliff Zammit Stevens 10th Anniversary Concert will take place 3 October 2018 in St George’s Square, Valletta. It is supported by Valletta2018 and sponsored by Intercontinental Malta and BOV. Booking is open and tickets are available to purchase at www.showshappening.com.
