Din l-Art Helwa youths to participate in an Erasmus heritage experience

-

Din l-Art Helwa has partnered up with its long-standing French counterpart Union Rempart, to participate in an Erasmus Heritage Volunteers and Leaders exchange under the European programme ERASMUS plus.

Seven youths will be travelling to Espalion in the Aveyron region in southern France and joining other youths from Romania and France on a twoweek long experience at the historic Chateau de Calmont d’Olt. The workshops will include stone-cutting and traditional masonry, visits to neighbouring castles, as well as a practical introduction to archaeological surveying and debates about cultural heritage and citizens in Europe.

This project was initiated by Union Rempart to mark 2018, Year of European Cultural Heritage, and has involved several European Countries. Din l-Art Helwa Executive President Maria Grazia Cassar said that it was with such collaborations that the true meaning of a shared European cultural heritage was found. She was thrilled that through Din l-Art Helwa, Maltese youths were able to have these exchanges with heritage organisations such as Rempart and the Asssociation de sauvegarde du chateau de Calmont d’Olt. Her Excellency the Ambassador of France Madame Brigitte Curmi, who just arrived in Malta, is sending her best wishes to the young people participating at this event. She hopes they will get a fruitful experience and enjoy their stay and their exposure to France’s rich historical patrimony.

You may follow the group on this exciting experience on Din l-Art Helwa FB page, Twitter and Instagram from 16 to 30 September 2018.
