Resurfacing Philosophies: a collective ceramic exhibition
Resurfacing Philosophies is a collective exhibition presenting the works of respected artists including the late Neville Ferry, Valerio Schembri, Sina Farrugia, Kenneth Grima, Charles Sammut & Paul Vella Critien.
Within 'Resurfacing Philosophies' we explore the artists' various elements of artistic inspiration as influenced by their surrounding context. It is a body of work which takes raw ideas from nature, the human primitive origin, the Maltese-Gozitan symbolism and landscapes.
These elements are the raw ideas, on which create an opportunity to discuss and investigate further on how one's perspective and philosophy on life is influenced according to the context of the individual. A process which is similarly present within the lifespan of the raw material of clay used by the ceramicists with mastery. For clay is taken from its raw form to being worked upon and then turned into the version the artist would have in mind for it. Just like an idea goes through a metamorphosis, from its raw concept to an investigated research and mode of thought.
The artists hold a repertoire of a high level of education in art and experience on both a national and international scale. The artists have exhibited in galleries and important institutions both locally and internationally.
'resurfacing PHILOSOPHIES' is going to open at The Reverend's Gallery, Żebbuġ Gozo, on Saturday the 22 September, at 7.30pm. The exhibition visiting dates are from 22 September till 4 October. Opening hours are Fridays 4pm to 6.30pm, Saturdays 10am to 12pm and 4pm to 6.30pm, and Sundays from 10am to 12pm.
