The Italian Taste event gives Italian producers the opportunity to introduce themselves to the Maltese market and to showcase their produce which is still produced in the traditional manner. This event presents the best of Italian enogastronomic and artisan excellences: panettoni, olive oil, bakery products, chocolates, nougat, pasta, cold cuts, cheeses and wines.

The Italian taste event is being organised by the Italian Food Academy which was set up in Malta by Chef Salvatore Piccione. This academy will give food courses certified by ALMA, which is a renowned Italian food academy based in Reggia di Colorno.

“The purpose of this event is to give visibility to companies that work hard to produce genuine healthy products with the aim of transmitting an educational message regarding our health and well-being. This is an important message and an incentive to adhere to a true Mediterranean diet. Moreover, this will favour the consumption of our regional typical excellences,” said Chef Salvator Piccione, the Director of the Italian Food Academy.

During the three days of celebrating food, which wrap up today, visitors can tour 22 stalls and sample all kinds of Italian delicacies. There will also be live cooking sessions from Pastry Chef Francesco Arena who is a point of reference in the world of pastry. Chef Arena was the first Sicilian member of the Richemont Club which is an international umbrella organisation which promotes excellences in the word of pastry.

“It is fitting that this event is being organised at is-Suq since this space has always been synonymous with being a genuine food market. We are proud to host this event which celebrates the successes of Italian Businesses that chose to safeguard their products in order to maintain their origins and characteristics so as to offer healthy, wholesome food products,” comments Arcadia Group CEO Maria Micallef.
