Gozo Expo 2019 and the Gozo Business Awards 2019
The goal of the Gozo EXPO 2019 and the Gozo Business Awards was to foster new approaches to the main challenges that Mediterranean peripheral islands such as Gozo are facing and propose new solutions through brainstorming, discussion, scientific research, and eventually set up a new platform of entrepreneurship opportunities through innovative ideas and networking under one roof, one umbrella.
Together with the Minister for Gozo, MBR Publications Limited is bringing to life the first ever B2B/B2C EXPO, which will also include foreign investors from the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Sicily and Tunisia that are participating. This two-day event will bring over 50 various companies and business organisations from different countries that are trying to propose new solutions to the main challenges Mediterranean islands are facing. It is also offering new business opportunities and solutions, especially in the alternative energy sector, as well as green energy, finance, investment and agency partnerships, agritoursim and eco-tourism, including other industries such as hospitality, real estate, IT, Gaming, F&B, retail, distribution and fashion.
The following topics had been presented at the conference: agriculture and fisheries, architecture, arts and literature, business and economics, culture and tradition, demography, education, geography,
history, marine and biology, media and communication, migration, public services, renewable energy sources, sport, security, sustainable development and tourism
Apart from the business part of the conference, participants and exhibitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a diverse and meaningful social programme which includes a guided tour around the island, exhibition Gozitana, concert by The Travellers and a Gala dinner at the Grand Hotel, culminating in the Gozo Business Awards. The event is also being supported by the Gozo Business Chamber.
The Gozitana is the result of the competition for the best student photography organised as part of the additional programme promoted by MBR Publications Limited. It was nice to bring together students on a single photography task especially since practically all entered works were good enough to meet the criteria. The topic of the Gozitana can be approached from many different perspectives and this is the situation we face. There were photos of tourist scenes, memories of beautiful vacations, romantic sunsets, beautiful landscapes and architecture…but, what may be missing is the portrayal of life in the GozitanMediterranean environment, the coexistence of people and the surroundings. Unfortunately, such angles are mostly unexplored. Therefore, for the exhibition we are attempting to select and reward the photographs which broach the subject in this particular and original manner. It should be pointed out, since photography is in part a technique, almost all works met the technical criteria. All of this allows us to be sure that next year’s exhibition will be even better, richer and more original.
The island of Gozo is well known for its natural beauty – some of the most beautiful Mediterranean beaches such as Ramla l-Hamra and Xlendi, are on the island of Gozo. One of the most famous natural attractions of Gozo is the Blue Hole, on the outskirts of Dwejra, which attracts thousands of visitors every year, as do paradise havens such as Wied ilGhasri and Mgarr ix-Xini. Undersea Gozo is rich in diverse flora and fauna and with the neighbouring Maltese Islands make this archipelago one of the most beautiful in the Mediterranean.
With these wishes, until the Gozo EXPO revs its engines, we wish you all good light!
