Nestlé Malta incentivises recycling among loyal consumers

-

Nestlé Malta’s commitment towards preserving our local environment was strengthened last week, with the relaunch of the Nestlé Collect Scheme in collaboration with GreenPak. Previously, only Nescafé (and Nescafé Dolce Gusto) jars and carton boxes were collected from consumers for recycling by means of the scheme. Consumers would gather their Nescafé packaging and exchange it for gifts at the Nestlé Consumer Centre in Lija. In this way, Nestlé Malta recycled over 433,000 jars and 300,000 cartons in 2018 alone. This year, they’re doing things differently.

If you’re an avid consumer of Nestlé products, the company’s latest initiative may be of interest. Through the newly relaunched Nestlé Collect Scheme, most Nestlé packaging can now be swapped for points. Previously, only jars and one type of carton could be exchanged. Now, tins, different types of cardboard and wrappers can be handed in and points received. This includes packaging from products such as CERELAC®, KitKat, Fitness, Purina Felix®, Yes! bars, Ideal milk, MILO, Nesquik, and much more. In turn, points can be redeemed for rewards.

A list of exchangeable products is available upon creating a Nescafé Collect Scheme account. You can register for free, and it couldn’t be easier. It’s all done on www.nestle-collect.com.

Upon registering, you’ll receive 50 redeemable points as a welcome gift. Collect Nestlé packaging at home and then take it to the Nestlé Consumer Centre in Lija. For each item that is part of the collection scheme, you take in, you’ll receive points. The more points you get, the more rewards you’ll receive. You could walk away with anything from iconic gifts to lots of vouchers. You can boost your points bank by inviting friends to sign up, and you can also access your points balance online – and even from your smartphone.

Joining the Nestlé Collect Scheme is your chance to earn rewards for recycling and doing your bit to help the environment. “It’s our duty to better the community we form a part of,” explains Mr Alfred Borg, Marketing & Corporate Communicatons Manager at Nestlé Malta. “We know that we share the same green goals as our consumers. So, this is our way of rewarding loyal consumers in a meaningful way while cleaning up our shared environment together.”

It’s well known that Nescafé is Malta’s coffee brand of choice but, this year, Nestlé Malta is extending its appreciation of consumer loyalty beyond coffee drinkers. And, while waste separation has improved in Malta in the past few years, there’s still a long way to go. A company the size of Nestlé Malta holds a responsibility to combat this issue, so that is why it is taking action to strengthen its corporate social responsibility towards both the environment and its consumers.

Moreover this is all part of a much larger goal. Longer-term, Nestlé has already communicated that it is committed to making all their products fully recyclable and/ or reusable by 2025.
