Gozo’s HillTop Rock is back, bigger and better

-

This year’s edition of HillTop Rock will see on the stage the queen of Malta’s music scene, Ira Losco, in a concert that aims to feature the best local talent on the grandest of stages.

The concert, organised by MedDad Live and sponsored by the Ministry for Gozo will be held on Saturday 16 November at 20:30, at Victory Square, Xaghra. Ira Losco’s headlining act will be supported by Gozo’s own Grovestreet Band, and DCapitals Big Band, well-renowned for their ability to energise any audience.

Ira Losco certainly needs no introduction: she has held the title of best-selling musical artist for the last decade, released 6 massive studio albums, represented Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest twice, and, amongst other notable achievements, is also an X-factor judge. Ira’s albums have occupied the top position on iTunes for record-breaking weeks. Her collaborations with David Correy and Jason Derulo further affirmed her standing as an international artist. As observed by MTV Network Europe, “She’s a true artist, the whole deal”.

Grovestreet Band is new to the scene, but certainly not in terms of talent. The band members have been individually perfecting their skills since a young age; Grovestreet is the culmination of years of intensive practice and live acts.

DCapitals Big Band is a fifteen-piece band, founded in August 2014. It holds a truly versatile musical repertoire and an energy that runs unmatched. The band has performed both locally and abroad, including in Sanremo, Palermo, and Liberec in Czech Republic.

As for HillTop Rock, the concert was first launched at the 2018 Fig Festival, organised by the Xaghra Local Council. A grand turnout and a spectacular show meant that the concert had to be back this year. Remaining true to its aim, the concert provides a stage for professional local talent, delivering a show to be remembered.

Xaghra is well-known for its bustling square, dotted with award-winning restaurants, cafes and bars. It is also home to some of the most stunning views on the island. Hill

Top Rock will add to the energy already present on a daily basis.

The concert will be held under a tent to provide a comfortable concert-experience in the case of inclement weather. Entrance is free.

This year’s edition of HillTop Rock was launched by the Hon. Justyne Caruana, Minister for Gozo at a press conference held at Victory Square, Xaghra, on Saturday 2 November.
