MCIF presents Grand Chrismas Concert
The first part of the evening will be in the hands of Marie Therese Vassallo Voice Studio choir and soloists, who will be presenting the Cantata Cantico Delle Creature di San Francesco D’ Assisi. Music was composed in 1967 by Maestro Frank Vassallo (1924-2000) to the original words by St Francis of Assisi. The soloists are soprano Claire Caruana and tenor Louis Hole. The organist is Mro Michael Camilleri. Choir and soloists will be under the direction of Dame Mro Marie Therese Vassallo. The reason that this work was chosen is because St Francis of Assisi was the first person to present a reenactment of the Birth of Christ.
For this occasion there will be the special intervention of Mtarfa Drama Group, who will be presenting their own reenactment of this Holy event.
The second part of the evening will be in the hands of Mary Jane Bellia Ballet School, who will be presenting the Christmas Ballet, Les Patineurs to music by Giacomo Meyerbeer and choreography by Mary Jane
Bellia and Emiliana Bonello. This is a complete ballet which involves many dancers, colourful costumes and a spectacular presentation.
The MCIF exhibition for this month will be in the hands of the members of Marie Therese Vassallo Voice Studio and will include painting, sculpture, ceramics, handicrafts, Maltese lace and much more.
The co-ordination and presentation of the concert will be in the hands of Dame Mro. Vassallo.
Free Parking will be available for guests in the grounds of the Junior College during the concert. The Junior College
Theatre has lift facilities from the parking area and from inside the College, providing easy access even for guests with special needs.
Everyone is invited to attend the concert which will be held at the Auditorium of G. F. Abela Junior College, Msida on Sunday, 15 December at 7pm. A contribution at the door is requested, to help cover some of the expenses of the MCIF and the use of the Junior College Theatre.
