The power of solar for The Inspire Foundation

-

Frank Salt Real Estate donated €120,000 worth of photovoltaic panels to The Inspire Foundation. The panels will generate 253,000 units of energy a year saving the foundation an average of €45,000 every year.

To mark its 50th year anniversary, Frank Salt Real Estate has undertaken various environmental projects with this being the biggest single CSR project undertaken by the company over the years.

As part of the company’s Let’s go environmental drive – a programme set up in 2018 to undertake CSR activities to safeguard the environment and give back to the local community – Frank Salt Real Estate has donated 454 solar panels to The Inspire Foundation, saving the organisation €45,000 worth of electricity a year.

The project was launched and inaugurated on 25 November at The Inspire Foundation’s branch in Marsascala (Razzett tal-Hbiberija), where the panels are being installed. The Minister for Energy and Water Management, Joe Mizzi attended the event.

Minister Mizzi commended this initiative and spoke about how government is assisting voluntary organisations to install photovoltaic panels. He said that government and the private sector should work together to support those in need while also meeting environmental objectives. He also mentioned how government is continuing to support PV with feed-in tariffs and grants for households.

Frank Salt Real Estate director Grahame Salt said that he believes that Malta needs more companies to take up similar initiatives. “Our hope is that this project, once in operation, will serve as an example to other companies who want to genuinely make a major contribution back to the society that sustains the success of a business in the long term.”

“The Inspire Foundation is a core organisation for the Maltese community and we are proud to support it,” added Salt. “Its sterling work helps countless children and adults with their physical and intellectual disabilities so they can reach their full potential. To operate, the Foundation requires immense amounts of energy. Installing photovoltaic panels at their premises will not only help make the foundation greener and more energy efficient, but will also contribute to a decrease in their running costs and energy bills.”

Antonello Gauci, CEO of The Inspire Foundation, expressed his gratitude towards Frank Salt Real Estate. “Inspire wholeheartedly thanks Frank Salt, for allowing our NGO to become more sustainable through this project. This sponsorship allows significant savings for Inspire for the next 20 years, which allows us to invest more in the services and programmes offered to persons with a disability, allowing them to reach their full potential in life. We depend on such support to continue offering services of the highest quality.”

The Inspire Foundation draws on many years of experience in educational, therapeutic, social and recreational needs of persons with disabilities. We specialise in aiding those on the autism spectrum, having profound multiple learning difficulties and those with behaviour challenges.
