Nilsson leads Qrendi to victory over Pieta

Alexandre Nilsson scored a brace and played a blinder to lead Qrendi to an important victory over Pieta. Pieta’ were the most dangerous team of the two and got rewarded in the 14th minute when Ze Lucas received a through-ball, shook off his marker and beat Dunstan Zarb with a low shot.

On 38 minutes, Qrendi drew level thanks to an unfortunat­e own goal. Leejoe Schembri was set through in the middle and in an attempt to clear the ball, Ishaya Jalo in avertedly kicked the ball passed Miguel Chetcuti. Qrendi took the lead immediatel­y in their first attack after the break. Dhonatan da Hora was sent through on the right, passing to Alexander Nilsson who somehow fumbled the ball over the goal line from close-in. After an hour play, captain Neil Pace Cocks could have equalised for Pieta’, but his shot from inside the box was well saved by Zarb, the Qrendi goalkeeper. On the other isde, Nillson, playing a blinder, kept the Pieta’ defenders busy and was very close to his second goal in the 81st minute when after another counter-attack, his powerful shot lacked direction

In the 89th minute, Qrendi secured the three points with another Nilsson goal, beating Chetcuti with an angled shot inside the box.
