Sharing Lives volunteers

-

During 2019, 26 individuals both Maltese and foreign, provided voluntary services to Sharing Lives, a service within Aġenzija Sapport. To recognise such contribution, an event was held recently by Aġenzija Sapport in appreciation of these volunteers’ work and dedication.

Thanks to these volunteers together with the employees of Aġenzija Sapport, 78 persons with disabilities benefitted from this service. A number of events were organised throughout the year, ranging from rugby, BBQs, fishing and concerts and national events such as Rockestra, Isle of MTV and Military Tattoo. This year there was also an increase in collaborations with organisations such as Noah’s Ark, Youtheme Foundation, YMCA, Aġenzija Sedqa and Brian’s Foundation.

Sharing Lives is a service aimed to increase the opportunity of social interactions and activities for persons with disability especially for those who have limited or no social network. In the past weeks the service has also been extended to Gozo.

Presently the Agency is receiving applications from volunteers interested in joining the Sharing

Lives’ team. Those students, professionals, organisations from both Malta and Gozo, wishing to volunteer some of their time to create events/activities for persons with disabilities can contact Aġenzija Sapport on 2256 8000.

Training, supervision and support will be provided to volunteers for their own personal growth. Students in post-secondary educational institutions as well as university students may apply to carry out voluntary work and/or a placement. A certificate is given to those who offer 30 hours or more.
