Cherished Christmas traditions at Casa Antonia

-

As families prepare for the festive season, Casa Antonia Residential and Nursing Home in Balzan leaves no stone unturned in preparing the cherished and much-loved Christmas traditions for its residents.

The home has been lovingly decorated – with a flash of festive cheer everywhere one looks. These include the beautiful crib and the Christmas tree, with garlands and fairy lights to further brighten the festive atmosphere. Throughout December until Epiphany – on 6th January – the programme is packed with seasonal events and shows.

The Christmas season began with the baking and decorating of cakes. Some of the residents – in the company of a group of young teenagers and under the guidance of Casa Antonia’s Coordinator Claire Busuttil – had a great time making cake decorations for a Christmas Cake competition organised by the Secretariat for the Elderly. In this competition, Casa Antonia came first in the Christmas Log category and four of its cakes were shortlisted among the final 10 Christmas Cakes.

Carol-singers, school choirs, ballet and dance schools – along with musicians – are entertaining the residents with their festive repertoire. Father Christmas will also bring along his Christmas cheer with Balzan’s Maria Annunziata Band.

Special outings are also featuring on the programme of Christmas activities as well as parties for residents and their guests.

“Like most families, traditional Christmas time is a celebratory period at our home,” said Casa Antonia General Manager Dr Sarah Cassar. “Residents share their unforgettable memories with affection at this time of the year. We do our very best to make Christmas time more special, joyful and another one to remember.”

Casa Antonia Nursing and Residential Home is a distinguished yet affordable home for the elderly. It is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac in Balzan and overlooks the President’s majestic gardens of San Anton. The home offers a superb location, where privacy and tranquillity are guaranteed and all 90 rooms enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding landscaped gardens.
