ECabs assists courier companies with last mile deliveries

● An estimated 12,000 deliveries to be completed by end of year

-

In the run up to Christmas several companies turned to eCabs’ to provide logistical support and utilise the company’s service for courier capabilities for their last mile deliveries of Christmas hampers and corporate gifts.

Over the past days in fact, eCabs’ head offices became a hub where thousands of hampers were being received, stacked and organised, sorted during the night hours and by the early morning, driver teams were out finalizing the distributions.

At peak hours, up to ten drivers were dispatched to the various zones who collectively completed over 6000 deliveries over the past few days ranging from food and drink hampers, jewellery gifts, documents, books and journals. By the end of the year it is estimated that 12,000 deliveries would have been completed.

“There is never a better time to test eCabs’ logistical capabilities than this specific time of the year. The heightened seasonal amount of sales drives business activity up to the extent that courier companies would seek our logistical support to help them conclude their many deliveries in time for Christmas,” said Simon Debono, Chief Officer Marketing & Business Development.

“This operation was also coordinated at a time when operations like ours are already facing sudden massive spikes, running an extremely busy schedule typical of this festive season. This spur of the moment logistics operation shows the trust that companies have in eCabs and our technology platforms. We’re very happy with the way the team handled this small test operation. It goes to show that we have a contribution to make in last mile deliveries,” added Mr. Debono.
