‘Twilights’ − a sacred art exhibition at Il-Ħaġar museum

-

Il-Ħaġar museum (Pjazza San Ġorġ, Victoria) is hosting a new exhibition, Twilights featuring sacred art by Aaron Formosa.

Basically a self-taught painter, Formosa was born in 1980 and has participated in various collective and solo exhibitions in Malta and Gozo. His works can be found in private and public collections, locally and overseas. In his art, Formosa aims to capture the intensity of transient emotions and communicate these experienced moments. A crepuscular light pervades these paintings in such a way that the loosely painted figures seek to manifest themselves in this aura of semi-darkness. He teaches philosophy, in which he holds a masters degree, at the Refalo Sixth Form.

The official opening is on Saturday, 27 February at 11.30am, accompanied with the launch of the 11th book in the Il-Ħaġar Gems series of full-colour 60pagers. Visitors can go round these paintings until 6 April during the normal times of 9am to 5pm seven days a week. This cultural centre does not charge an entrance fee.

This event, included in the programme for Il-Ħaġar’s eighth anniversary, is supported financially by the Gozo Ministry’s Cultural Directorate. The organisers are obviously responsible for adhering to the Health Authority’s directives.

Dr Michael Psaila, managing partner of Mamo TCV Advocates, underlined the firm’s commitment to the visually impaired and the Malta Guide Dogs Foundation (MGDF), in particular, when he not only presented a donation but committed the firm to assisting the foundation in its legal affairs in the coming years.

It was the wish of the firm, which has a staff complement of over 70 people, to select the MGDF as one of the beneficiaries of their annual charity donation. The firm counts among its lawyers Dr Kevin Cutajar MP, who is a Board member of the MGDF.

The firm brings a heritage of over 40 years of legal advice to a wide base of local and international clients. Set up in 2000, following the merger of John Mamo & Associates and Tonna Camilleri Vassallo & Co., Mamo TCV is a top-tier full-service firm with an unparalleled depth and breadth of legal expertise in a number of practice areas including corporate and commercial, insolvency and restructuring, financial services, intellectual property, privacy and data protection,

shipping and litigation.

MGDF chairman Joseph Stafrace briefed Dr Psaila on the foundation’s brief history, dating back to 2006 when it was founded by the late Ron Colombo, and its achievements

to date, including the provision of orientation and mobility training and guide dogs to the visually impaired. He thanked Dr Psaila for the firm’s generosity and looked forward to working with the firm when the need arose.
