Former Inter Scudetto winner Mauro Bellugi has died aged 71. Back in December he had both his legs amputated following complicati­ons due to COVID.

Bellugi turned 71 on February 7 and Il Corriere della Sera reports the former Inter Scudetto winner died in Milan yesterday morning.

“They even took away the leg that I used to score against Borussia Monchengla­dbach,” he said.

“At least they might give me some blades so I’ll be as fast as Oscar Pistorius.”

Bellugi played for Inter from 1969 until 1974 and scored one goal in 140 appearance­s with the Nerazzurri.

He won a Scudetto with Inter in the 1970-71 campaign.

He also played for Napoli,

Bologna and Pistoiese.

A minute of silence will be held before each Serie A game this weekend and Inter will wear black armbands.
