Gaulitana Festival continues with Wayne Marshall

-

After kicking off with an open-air concert, “GauLive”, the final phase of the 14th edition of Gaulitana: A Festival of Music, continues on Saturday 18 September.

Internationally-renowned musician Wayne Marshall will be in attendance giving an organ recital, his first ever in Gozo. This is being held at the monumental Xewkija Rotunda, whose grand organ, inaugurated in 2017, was built by Michael Farley, Organ Builders from Budleigh Salterton, Devon, U.K., following the design of Maltese organ architect, Noel Gallo.

Marshall’s musical journey as organist, pianist and conductor has seen him perform to great acclaim with such great orchestras from across the Atlantic, whether the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony, the Wiener Philharmoniker, the London

Symphony Orchestra or the Berlin Philharmonic. He is widely renowned, even in Malta, for his interpretations of 20th century cross-over music by Gershwin and Bernstein. For Gozo, the OBE (Order of the British Empire) artist will treat the audience with some well-known organ repertoire alternated with his typical grandiose organ improvisations.

This world-class event starts at 20.00hrs and will be in full compliance with health protocols. Attendance for is free and reservations are required on bookings.gaulitana@gmail.com.
