Appointmen­t of Head of School

Bernadette Stivala has been announced as San Anton School`s next Head of School, succeeding the late Dr Sandro Spiteri.

Stivala is well known in the School’s community as she was Head of Early Years at San Anton School since September 2013 and acting Head of School since October 2021. She was also a member of the School Board between 2012-2013 and a founding member of the Independen­t Schools Associatio­n. Previously, Ms. Bernadette also led an independen­t Kindergart­en and Junior School for sixteen years.

As Head of Early Years at San Anton, Stivala pioneered the emergent curriculum and the Reggio approach as well as introduced Outdoor Education, which now make up the San Anton School Early Years Experience.

Stivala is a qualified English Language and Literature teacher with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from the University of Malta and also holds a Master’s degree in Educationa­l Leadership and Management from the University of Leicester.

I look forward to providing our students with exciting, creative and meaningful learning experience­s which will build their enthusiasm for learning and help them to develop into mature, responsibl­e and caring adults,” commented Stivala on her appointmen­t.

San Anton School at L-Imselliet, is a leading independen­t, co-educationa­l, mixed ability school, catering for the education of 1300 students aged 18 months to 16 years, from Pre-Kindergart­en right through to Secondary level.
