-

The Philosophy Sharing Foundation announces that it has just published the 17th edition of its magazine

Share which forms an integral part of the Foundation’s mission to make philosophy more accessible and appreciative with the broader public.

This special issue asks whether Marxism is still relevant to modern times and draws nine thinkers and academics to explore from various angles including ecology, alienation, utopia, feminism and spiritual freedom, among many other themes related to the subject. The artwork of the front cover on Marx has been created by an Italian illustrator and cartoonist specifically for this issue.

Share 17 contains four other philosophical articles that deal with:

philosopher Boethius and the virtue of humility in his classical work Consolation of Philosophy

the call for humanist movements to adopt a worldview that embraces ambiguity in a rising secular era

the use of transcendental philosophical perspectives to guard against deceptive evidence of skilful manipulation

the complex relationship between the concepts’ existence and reality which when analysed apart can lead to different outcomes

The regular feature that holds an interview with a philosopher was carried out with Marianne Talbot, a philosopher who prior to her recent retirement, taught at Oxford University for 32 years.

The magazine reviews the book Be Logical Be Creative Be Critical authored by Luc de Brabandare with Lina Benmehrez.

Share 17 continues with the third series of the manifesto that was launched two years ago in Share 14 (November 2020). This time, the manifesto deals with the subject of economics and provides a critical commentary on the key role which the economy plays in our lives and its contribution to our well-being.

Lastly, the edition features a new corner for philosophy students by introducing the Students Philosophy Society

(SPS), a student organisation set up at the University of Malta.
