Undine LaVerve, Malta’s very own Queen of Burlesque, has teamed up with Spazju Kreattiv to bring the sixth edition of MalTease to the island. This sold-out burlesque and variety spectacle has been hailed as a success every year, transporting audiences to a different era and taking them on a journey down Malta’s famous Strada Stretta.

This year’s edition is led by Malcolm Galea, one of Malta’s most prolific actors and playwrights, and French performer Channel DeMai, who will guide the audience down Valletta’s notorious street to witness a stunning showcase of magic, live singing, and, of course, burlesque.

But what is burlesque, you may ask? This art form, born many centuries ago as a satirical type of prose, has evolved over time to encompass many styles – from glamorous to comical to political. In its early days, burlesque was a form of bawdy comedy, often mocking the upper classes, and later evolved into a form of dance. From the Minsky’s to the Follies, extravagant showgirls would dance and artistically disrobe on stage, teasing the audience in a sweet and cheeky way.

Nowadays, burlesque has become a diverse and inclusive art form that welcomes performers of all styles, genders, orientations, ages, shapes and sizes. And MalTease embraces the beauty and diversity of burlesque. This year’s line-up features international stars from Berlin, Paris, Lisbon and Tallinn, joined by local performers such as Malta’s own burlesque pioneer Undine LaVerve and the Burlesque Academy of Malta dancers.

In this edition, international stars, Anja Pavlova (Berlin), Channel DeMai, Vicomte Harbour (Paris), Cadbury Parfait (Lisbon) and Miss Chrissy Kiss (Tallinn) will be joined by local performers, Henk Wolswijk, our singing Dutchman and Alice Wolswijk, with Gwilym Bugeja on magic duties.

MalTease has become a cultural event that celebrates the art of tease and brings glamour to Malta’s burlesque scene. The show aims to showcase the beauty and diversity of burlesque, while also paying homage to the history of the art form.

If you’re looking for a unique and unforgettable experience, be sure to catch MalTease at Spazju Kreattiv in Valletta on 5, 6 or 7 May.

Don’t miss out on this dazzling spectacle that celebrates the art of tease and brings glamour to Malta’s burlesque scene.
