Prohealth completes Triomed Ltd acquisition
The new acquisition brings together the strengths of two leading companies within Malta’s healthcare products and services sector.
Prohealth has completed the acquisition of TrioMed Ltd, a leading local supplier of medical equipment representing international market leading brands that include Philips Healthcare, Hologic, Linet and others.
Established in 1995 by three pharmacists Peter Apap, John Jaccarini and Andrew Paris, Prohealth is today at the forefront of the pharmaceutical and dermocosmetic market in Malta and Libya with brands such as La Roche-Posay, Vichy, Ursapharm, Rowex, Galderma and Kin. Over the past five years, Prohealth has also strengthened its presence in both the private and public medical devices market in Malta with the set-up of its Medical Devices Business Unit. The acquisition of TrioMed, with the full on-boarding of its highly experienced and specialised team, led by directors and founders Alex Vella, Ian Vella and Charles Cascun, will
ensure business continuity, customer service excellence and continued unrivalled technical support for all existing customers and the wide Triomedinstalled
equipment base of MRIs, CT scans, Ultrasounds, Mammography systems, AEDs, Patient Monitors, Clinical Informatics Software and more
across Malta and Gozo.
Prohealth’s CEO and cofounder Apap explained that: “Operating under the Triomed name, Prohealth’s Medical Devices
Business Unit and Triomed’s management, sales and service teams will be integrated into one single operational entity. Mark Bondin will be leading this consolidated and strengthened Triomed team, with Alex responsible for business development, and Ian and Charles developing and growing the technical support department further.” He added that “this new operational structure, backed by Prohealth as the new shareholder, will allow us to unlock new prospects and synergies and to keep establishing Prohealth as a leader in local healthcare”.
Triomed’s outgoing managing director Vella said that “17 years after Ian, Charles and I started Triomed together, we are now looking forward to this next professional phase. I feel that with Prohealth’s expertise and their well-structured functions and HR set-up, coupled with our technical and commercial experience, very exciting times lie ahead for us all”.
