GO presents ‘L-Istrina’ with €70,000 donation
Support to MCCF extended through major technical and operational deployment
GO has continued to fulfil its longterm commitment with Malta’s largest fund-raising telethon, l-Istrina,
with a donation of €70,000 in aid of this year’s campaign. This donation marks the fourth year of a multi-annual agreement, aimed at truly demonstrating the company’s unwavering support towards this noble cause and underscoring GO’s dedication to giving back to the community.
The company’s association with L-Istrina certainly does not stop with this substantial monetary donation but extends to the largescale technical and professional support which provides the operational backbone for such a largescale event to happen.
For this year’s event, GO operated no less than 35 donation lines and 37 pledge lines, strategically placed at key locations, as well as IPTV setups, broadband connections and TV direct links, including two in Gozo equipped with IPTV and broadband. Additionally, GO has laid down approximately 1km of True Fibre and 1km of network cable to enhance connectivity and facilitate seamless operations during this fundraiser.
In addition to this, GO has put together an entire professional team onsite well in advance to guarantee the seamless execution of the event from a technical point of view. As L-Istrina unfolded on Boxing Day, various technical experts were busily working behind the scenes, stationed both on-site and at GO’s offices, overseeing all the intricate technical requirements essential for an event of this scale.
“We are honoured to stand alongside the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation in its tireless efforts to make a meaningful difference in our society,” said Mandy Calleja, head of Corporate Communications. “This commitment reflects our steadfast dedication to supporting initiatives that uplift and empower our community. We are proud to contribute not only financially, but also through the deployment of our technical resources and dedicated team members.”
“GO has consistently been and will continue to be deeply embedded within the Maltese community, which is why our partnership with the MCCFF means a lot to us. We recognize the invaluable role the MCCFF plays in supporting those who are truly in need, aligning perfectly with our purpose of leaving no one behind,” added Calleja. “It has been an amazing journey. The fact that we have made significant inroads in our True Fibre network rollout, which is anticipated to reach nationwide coverage by the end of next year, means that we could power the set up required for L-Istrina with the best technology available, reducing complexity, while increasing efficiency, across the multiple locations. Powering this noble cause with our technology truly reflects our purpose of driving a digital Malta where no one is left behind,” concluded Mandy.
