Launch of ITB offers for 2024
Over the years, the local business community has become acutely aware of the need to transition towards, and invest in, sustainable commercial projects. The government works to actively encourage different business sectors in their ecological transition, towards a greener, decarbonised future.
The Ministry for the Environment, Energy and the Regeneration of the Grand Harbour, in collaboration with the Regulator for Energy and Water Services (REWS) recently launched another important scheme to help private businesses invest in the development of large renewable energy projects, such as solar farms and wind turbines.

Monday, June 24, 2024 aid for electricity produced from new renewable energy installations with electricity generation capacities ranging from 40kw up to less than 200kw and from 200kw up to less than 1,000kw. Each of these calls consists of two separate Invitations to Bid (ITB), one ITB for each capacity category running concurrently, as in the table above.
The Ministry for the Environment, Energy and Regeneration for the Grand Harbour is also relaunching the invitation to bid for the development of renewable energy systems larger than one megawatt (MW). The total capacity on offer stands at 38 MW and applies to large installations of renewable energy systems such as solar farms and wind turbines.
These installations may be installed in several sites such as quarries, disused landfills, industrial land, rooftops and other similar locations. The start date for the submission of bids for this category is April 26, whereas the closing date will be Friday, May 3, at noon.
