State Chess Championship 2017 announces winners
A total of 24 chess masters, including Grandmasters Ch.Batchuluun and T.Batchimeg, gathered at the final round of the State Chess Championship 2017, which concluded on March 25 in Dadal soum of Khentii Province.
Twelve female chess players challenged themselves in the women’s category, and Woman International Master U.Uuriintuya became state champion by earning nine points. This is the fourth time U.Uuriintuya, 19, took part in the State Chess Championship but first time winning a gold medal.
The most anticipated match was between U.Uuriintuya and T.Batchimeg. In the third round, U.Uuriintuya defeated Grandmaster T.Batchimeg.
Grandmaster and State Honored Athlete T.Batchimeg won a silver medal with 8.5 points and player of Aldar Sports Committee D.Yanjindulam secured a bronze medal.
In the men’s category, Grandmaster Ts.Batchuluun seized his fourth gold medal at the State Chess Championship 2017. The silver medal went to player of Khentii Province, FIDE Master U.Nasanjargal, and the bronze medal went to International Master S.Bilguun.
