Defense Minister calls for military accountability following fatal grenade accident
On April 19, Minister of Defense B.Bat-Erdene instructed the Chief of the General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces (MAF), Lieutenant General D.Davaa, to hold the officials who were involved in the April 11 grenade training accident that occurred near the Tavan Tolgoi military training center accountable.
Lieutenant General D.Davaa will be required to present Minister B.Bat-Erdene with his plan for penalizing the military officials involved in the accident by April 21.
Minister B.Bat-Erdene also instructed the Lieutenant General and officials of the General Staff of the MAF to insure military discipline, safety, and the implementation of proper measures for preventing accidents involving fire and weapons.
The General Inspector of the Ministry of Defense, Major General Z.Boldbaatar, has been instructed to oversee the carrying out of the Defense Minister’s instructions.
