U20 FUTSAL TEAM WELCOMED HOME ON WEDNESDAY
The Mongolian national boys’ futsal team, coached by S.Erdene-Ochir, successfully competed in the 2017 Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) U20 Futsal Championship for the first time, and were welcomed home on May 24.
Representatives from the Mongolian Football Federation and the team members’ families and friends welcomed them home when they arrived at Chinggis Khaan International Airport.
The Mongolian team played in Group D, along with teams from Iran, Kyrgyzstan, China, and the United Arab Emirates, and came in second place after Iran in the championship’s pre-quarterfinal games. In the quarterfinal match, Mongolia played against Uzbekistan, but lost 7:10.
A Mongolian Football Federation representative said, “The U20 Mongolian team started preparing for the 2017 AFC U20 Futsal Championship last December. Today’s achievement can be attributed to that preparation, as well as the Mongolian Football Federation’s policies, plans, clubs, and coaches.”
