MONGOLIA UPDATES ON UN AND SDC FUNDED PROJECT PERFORMANCE
Aboard of directors meeting of the Strengthening Representative Bodies Project being implemented by the Parliament Secretariat in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) took place on July 26 at the State Palace.
United Nations resident coordinator Beate Trankmann, director of cooperation at SDC Gabriella Spirli and Mongolian government officials in charge of the project participated in the meeting to discuss the project’s performance report for the first half of 2017 and updates to the 2017 action plan of the project.
At the beginning of the meeting, chairman of the board for the project and Head of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on State Structure N.Enkhbold introduced the project’s performance report carried out in the first half of this year.
He highlighted that the project helps provide members of citizens' representative councils in all levels with major investment and noted that recommendations from the project should be published as handbooks for new government officials and policy documents.
Secretary General of the Parliament Secretariat and general manager of the project Ts.Tsolmon underlined that the project’s team has started collaborating with the National Academy of Governance to organize trainings for newly appointed government officials in creating suitable institutional mechanisms that provide new members of citizens' representative councils with training programs.
Ts.Tsolmon stated that updates to the project’s action plan for 2017 have been required because the cost of some parts of the project had increased due to exchange rate fluctuation between MNT and USD, and noted that some works of the project were unified to cut spending.
At the end of the meeting, the attendees agreed with the new proposed update to the project’s action plan for this year.
