Speaker M.Enkhbold exchanges views on regional security with Japanese delegation
Speaker of Parliament M.Enkhbold received Chair of the Japan-Mongolia Friendship Group at the Japanese House of Representatives and Special Aide to Japan’s Prime Minister Motoo Hayashi and his accompanying delegation on September 7 at the State Palace to discuss regional security.
During the meeting, Hayashi asked Speaker M.Enkhbold to work together to deal with North Korea’s nuclear program, which is threatening regional stability in East Asia, and to support the Japanese bid to host Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan.
Speaker M.Enkhbold noted that as a country in Northeast Asia, Mongolia is concerned about North Korean nuclear tests and emphasized that countries of the world should concentrate on resolving this issue.
He added that Mongolia wants to pursue dialogue, negotiation and discussion to resolve the issue facing regional stability and as Mongolia has some experience organizing the Ulaanbaatar Dialogue Initiative on Northeast Asian Security, a mechanism to increase mutual understanding to pursue a solution of this issue, the country is ready to closely cooperate with countries in the region by hosting open dialogue.
The Speaker stated that the government of Mongolia has made its decision to support the Japanese bid to host Expo 2025.
Hayashi introduced the Speaker to representatives from Japan’s Chiba Prefecture and M.Enkhbold asked the delegation to focus on developing collaboration between Mongolian provinces and Japanese prefectures.
