Erdenet Wastewater Treatment Plant expected to open next year

-

On Thursday, Orkhon Province Mayor D.Batlut shared plans to commission the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Erdenet city, Orkhon Province next year.

A representative from GDF Suez of France, managing the Project to Expand WWTP in Orkhon Province, stated that the launch of the plant could delay and that they might not be able to complete the construction work before the end of 2017 if additional workers aren’t hired.

As of September 7, the process to assemble steel structures of the plant was at 97 percent completion and GDF Suez workers were starting to build roads and set up electricity network lines.

Ar Daagan LLC is handling the assembling work with assistance from Baiguulamj LLC.

“The lack of workforce was related to the financial situation. We have requested the Construction Development Center for a credibility assurance report in order to generate investment,” said the general engineer of Ar Daagan LLC.

According to the contract, the wastewater treatment plant is supposed to be handed over for commission on September 30. To comply with the agreement, Mayor D.Batlut has ordered construction companies to hasten their operations but without degrading the quality of work.

Reportedly, the expansion of the plant is very significant for reducing water and soil pollution in Ulaanbaatar.
