Land acquisition problems for road projects under negotiation
A working group led by Deputy Mayor of Ulaanbaatar P.Bayarkhuu reviewed road construction sites delayed by land acquisition problems.
The construction of a pedestrian overpass near the Traffic Police Department has been delaying due to a problem with the acquisition of the National Amusement Park, according to the working group. Deputy Mayor P.Bayarkhuu notified that he will negotiate with the other party to resume construction work.
Head of the Ulaanbaatar Road Development Office J.Togtokhbayar, his deputy G.Battogtokh, Head of the Road Construction Control Division B.Bum-Erdene, Head of the Division of Operations and Maintenance B.Tserensodnom, Deputy Head of the Ulaanbaatar Land Office B.Zagdsambar, and Head of the Ulaanbaatar Traffic Police Department B.Erdenebat have been assigned to the working group.
They reported that the group has met with residents living in Apartment No.61 who had been protesting against a project to build a road from Uildverchnii Evlel Street in the 18th khoroo of Songinokhairkhan District to Makh Impex JSC building. As a result, the working group compromised to build the road three meters away from the apartment. To speed up the project, the Ulaanbaatar Land Office was ordered to acquire lands along the street where a new road has been planned for construction, specifically from the 1st khoroo in Sukhbaatar District to Uildverchnii Evlel Street. The road will open a shortcut from the 1st khoroo to Moscow Town.
The construction of a 2.4-kilometer-long road, connecting the northern Zaisan road to southern Bogd Mountain road in Khan-Uul District, is nearly complete and only needs final touchups, reported city officials. The project’s contractor has been facing some problems related to the acquisition of around 130 meters of the road, currently in use by Gazriin Ur Shim LLC. The working group instructed the people in charge to resolve the problem as soon as possible so that the road can be commissioned on time.
According to officials, 39 road projects are underway with investment from four sources, namely the capital city budget, Ulaanbaatar Road Fund, Development bank, and foreign loans. The working group reported that 90 percent of these projects have been completed and announced that they will take necessary measures to settle land problems and finish the work on time.
