Japanese photographers in Mongolia
On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Japan, 11 Japanese photographers arrived in Ulaanbaatar to launch an exhibition titled “Japanese Photographers in Mongolia” at Q Art Gallery in Zaisan.
More than 60 photos taken by 11 outstanding photographers of Japan’s Photographers Association are being displayed at the exhibition.
The photographs, featuring Japanese people, nature, tradition, culture and lifestyle, were taken by a Japanese popular photographer Sugiyama Teruzo, his student Shimuzu Tetsuro, and others.
Sugiyama Teruzo’s works attracts interest of viewers. He mostly worked on paintings of State Honored Artist and People’s Artist N.Tsultem since 1983.
Sugiyama’s student Shimizu Tetsuro came to Mongolia in 1997 and has been taking pictures and traveling around Mongolia’s steppes and the Gobi desert.
During the exhibition opening, the Order of Polar Star was awarded to board director of the Mongolian Photographers’ Association L.Ganzorig and senior photographer S.Tuya by decree of President Kh.Battulga.
Member of Parliament and president of the Mongolian Photographers’ Association L.Enkh-Amgalan, Ambassador of Japan to Mongolia Masato Takaoka, former yokozuna (grand champion) of professional sumo D.Dagvadorj, secretary-general of Japan’s Photographers Association Yutaka Ohira, and Mongolian and Japanese photographers attended the opening ceremony.
