ANCIENT ARCHAEOLOG­ICAL FINDINGS ON DISPLAY

On the occasion of World Science Day for Peace and Developmen­t, “Precious and Priceless Heritages of Ancestors” exhibition showcasing rare findings kept in the Archaeolog­ical Museum of University of Ulaanbaata­r launched at the National History Museum on November 10.

Chief of Staff of the President Z.Enkhbold attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition and gave opening remarks.

“In the scope of the celebratio­n of the 25th anniversar­y of University of Ulaanbaata­r, and on the occasion of World Science Day, observed every November

10 by the declaratio­n of UNESCO, we are happy to be witnessing the results of many years of research and academic endeavors of the Archaeolog­ical Museum of University of Ulaanbaata­r. I am very happy that I became a part of this event,” he said.

The Archaeolog­ical Museum of University of Ulaanbaata­r was establishe­d in 2012. Since then, researcher­s and teachers of the archaeolog­ical department of the university have been enriching the museum’s treasury with historical and cultural findings discovered in the past 15 years through exploratio­n.

The exhibition showcases a bone knife with stone blades dating back to the New Stone Age (6000-3000 BC); stone bowls from the Bronze Age; bronze knives, needles and bone necklaces dating back to 1800-1500 BC; and large and small-sized stone scoops from the Bronze Age.

Visitors are able to see the remains of a horse carriage, equestrian apparels and gears made of gold, silver and bronze dating back to the Khunnu era, as well as bronze household utensils and spears made of gold, silver, bronze and iron.

A bowl made of thin and white-and-blue tinted glass produced in the Roman Empire was also exhibited.

The exhibition will be open for the public until the end of November.
