The 23rd Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition opened in Taichung City, Taiwan by Cultural Affairs Bureau and Taichung City Government.

An oil painting titled “Edelweiss” by teacher of the Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture (MSUAC) D.Baatarsuren and several works by student of MSUAC T.Tergel have remained in the semi-final of the 23rd Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition.

Some 1,390 artworks from over 40 countries are being featured at the exhibition, and the first stage selection was held on May 6, shortlisting 209 works for the next stage.

In the first stage, 40 oil paintings and other eight works from Mongolia were selected.

Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition is one of the most significant international exhibitions organized by the Taiwanese government.

Head of the Representative Office of Taiwan in Mongolia Huang Kuo Jung said, "Being selected in the semi-final is almost the same as winning the prize. Because Mongolia has a rich cultural heritage, I had no doubt that Mongolian artists would remain in the semi-final. The nomadic culture, lifestyle and tradition are what make the development of Mongolian culture so unique.”

The first place winners of each category will be awarded 120,000 NTD and a certificate. Five Da Dun Prize winners will be selected from among the first-prize winners.

The winners will be announced later this month.
