Athletes of Aldar bring 7 medals
The 33rd International Military Sports Council (CISM) World Military Wrestling Championship was held between May 14 and 20 at the Igrovoi Center in Moscow, Russia.
According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, more than 380 servicemen from 22 countries are taking part in the 33rd CISM World Military Wrestling Championship in Moscow.
The participants are from countries which belong to the Sambo International Federation (FIAS) including from Mongolia, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Brazil, China, Colombia, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iran, Kazakhstan, South Korea, North Korea, Pakistan, Peru, Switzerland, Syria and Russia.
On May 15, the Central Sport Club of the Army complex hosted the official opening ceremony of the championship, which was attended by representatives of the CISM and officials.
Mongolian athletes claimed one gold, one silver and five bronze medals.
Athletes of Aldar Sports Committee under the Ministry of Defense, including gold and silver medalist of the World Championship S.Tserenchimed, bronze medalist of the World Championship B.Odonchimeg, two-time bronze medalist of the Asian Championship E.Tsevegmid, World Military champions N.Lkhamgarmaa and G.Otgonjargal, and bronze medalist of the World Youth Championship B.Bolor-Erdene participated in the tournament.
Through overall score, the Mongolian women’s team placed second at the World Military Wrestling Championship 2018.
On the first day of the competition, in the men’s 61 kg category, bronze medalist of the World University Wrestling Championship 2014 and international sports master B.Khash-Erdene claimed gold medal after defeating Swiss, Iranian and Russian wrestlers. He became the seventh Mongolian wrestler to become the World Military Wrestling champion.
In the men’s 70 kg category, state champion and international sports master B.Byambadorj claimed bronze medal after beating Syrian Mazen Kadmani 10-0.
On the third day of the competition, men’s 79 kg, 86 kg, 92 kg, 97 kg and 125 kg, and women’s 62 kg, 65 kg, 68 kg, 72 kg and 76 kg categories took place. Mongolian athletes claimed one silver and four bronze medals.
Sports master E.Davaanasan took silver in the women’s 68 kg category.
The four bronze medals were taken by silver and bronze medalist of the World Championships S.Tserenchimed (women’s 62 kg), two-time bronze medalist of the Asian Championships E.Tsevegmid (women’s 65 kg), sports master P.NominErdene (women’s 72 kg), and bronze medalist of the World Championships B.Odonchimeg (women’s 76 kg).
Major B.Munkhtuul served as the team leader. The team was accompanied by State Merited Coach Ts.Khosbayar and coach D.Tsogtbaatar. International sports master G.Amarkhuu served as a referee at the championship.
Athletes S.Tserenchimed and B.Odonchimeg, who just came back to the sport after a lengthy break, brought medals from their first international competition of the year.
S.Tserenchimed defeated Chinese, Kazakhstanian, and Belarusian athletes and was defeated by a Brazilian athlete.
International sports master B.Odonchimeg was defeated by Gulmaral Erkebaeva from Kazakhstan in the semi-final, but beat Hanna Maslakova from Belarus in the match for bronze medal.
