Athletes of Aldar bring 7 medals

The 33rd Internatio­nal Military Sports Council (CISM) World Military Wrestling Championsh­ip was held between May 14 and 20 at the Igrovoi Center in Moscow, Russia.

According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, more than 380 servicemen from 22 countries are taking part in the 33rd CISM World Military Wrestling Championsh­ip in Moscow.

The participan­ts are from countries which belong to the Sambo Internatio­nal Federation (FIAS) including from Mongolia, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Brazil, China, Colombia, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iran, Kazakhstan, South Korea, North Korea, Pakistan, Peru, Switzerlan­d, Syria and Russia.

On May 15, the Central Sport Club of the Army complex hosted the official opening ceremony of the championsh­ip, which was attended by representa­tives of the CISM and officials.

Mongolian athletes claimed one gold, one silver and five bronze medals.

Athletes of Aldar Sports Committee under the Ministry of Defense, including gold and silver medalist of the World Championsh­ip S.Tserenchim­ed, bronze medalist of the World Championsh­ip B.Odonchimeg, two-time bronze medalist of the Asian Championsh­ip E.Tsevegmid, World Military champions N.Lkhamgarma­a and G.Otgonjarga­l, and bronze medalist of the World Youth Championsh­ip B.Bolor-Erdene participat­ed in the tournament.

Through overall score, the Mongolian women’s team placed second at the World Military Wrestling Championsh­ip 2018.

On the first day of the competitio­n, in the men’s 61 kg category, bronze medalist of the World University Wrestling Championsh­ip 2014 and internatio­nal sports master B.Khash-Erdene claimed gold medal after defeating Swiss, Iranian and Russian wrestlers. He became the seventh Mongolian wrestler to become the World Military Wrestling champion.

In the men’s 70 kg category, state champion and internatio­nal sports master B.Byambadorj claimed bronze medal after beating Syrian Mazen Kadmani 10-0.

On the third day of the competitio­n, men’s 79 kg, 86 kg, 92 kg, 97 kg and 125 kg, and women’s 62 kg, 65 kg, 68 kg, 72 kg and 76 kg categories took place. Mongolian athletes claimed one silver and four bronze medals.

Sports master E.Davaanasan took silver in the women’s 68 kg category.

The four bronze medals were taken by silver and bronze medalist of the World Championsh­ips S.Tserenchim­ed (women’s 62 kg), two-time bronze medalist of the Asian Championsh­ips E.Tsevegmid (women’s 65 kg), sports master P.NominErden­e (women’s 72 kg), and bronze medalist of the World Championsh­ips B.Odonchimeg (women’s 76 kg).

Major B.Munkhtuul served as the team leader. The team was accompanie­d by State Merited Coach Ts.Khosbayar and coach D.Tsogtbaata­r. Internatio­nal sports master G.Amarkhuu served as a referee at the championsh­ip.

Athletes S.Tserenchim­ed and B.Odonchimeg, who just came back to the sport after a lengthy break, brought medals from their first internatio­nal competitio­n of the year.

S.Tserenchim­ed defeated Chinese, Kazakhstan­ian, and Belarusian athletes and was defeated by a Brazilian athlete.

Internatio­nal sports master B.Odonchimeg was defeated by Gulmaral Erkebaeva from Kazakhstan in the semi-final, but beat Hanna Maslakova from Belarus in the match for bronze medal.
