Polish legislators visit Mongolia to develop mutual cooperation
Polish delegates led by Chair of the PolandMongolia Inter-Parliamentary Group in Poland’s Sejm (Parliament’s lower house) Marek Dzonsa are visiting Mongolia from May 21 to 25, at the invitation of Chair of the Mongolia-Poland Inter Parliamentary Group in Parliament D.DambaOchir.
The Polish delegates were received by Speaker M.Enkhbold on May 21 at the State Palace to discuss a wide range of issues in the relations and cooperation between the two nations.
Speaker M.Enkhbold underlined that active collaboration between the two parliaments is a key aspect of the two nations’ historic ties.
The speaker stated that he hopes the meeting of inter-parliamentary groups, which will be held in Warsaw, Poland late this year, will have a positive impact on legislature, trade, and economic cooperation between the two countries.
He emphasized that enhancing the legal and regulatory environment will be of significant importance to strengthening bilateral relationship and bolstering economic cooperation.
M.Enkhbold noted that a loan of 50 million EUR granted by the government of Poland will fund social protection projects and programs in Mongolia. He also noted the importance of establishing an agreement on expanding ongoing defense cooperation between the two countries.
The speaker also noted the importance of enhancing cooperation on labor and social protection of Mongolians living in Poland, increasing of the number of Mongolian and Polish students studying through government scholarships of the two countries, and continuing collaboration between the two nations in regional and global arenas.
Speaker M.Enkhbold told the Polish delegates that he has already invited heads of the Polish lower and upper houses to pay official visits to Mongolia.
Dzonsa pointed out that the inter-parliamentary groups are actively cooperating with each other to strengthen relations and cooperation between the two countries. He stressed that the main point of his visit is to discuss collaboration opportunities in economic, defense and educational sectors with Mongolia.
Chair of the Mongolia-Poland Inter-Parliamentary Group in Parliament and lawmaker D.Damba-Ochir and the group’s members held a meeting with the Polish delegates on Monday to talk about some issues of cooperation in detail.
D.Damba-Ochir stated that the parliamentary groups should focus on strengthening ongoing education and defense cooperation, and seek new collaboration opportunities in other sectors.
The Polish delegation stressed that there are possibilities for Mongolian young people to study the Polish language and culture, as well as learn business studies and attend some other training programs in Poland.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs B.Battsetseg welcomed the Polish legislators to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to exchange opinions on some issues concerning the relations and cooperation between the two countries.
During their meeting, the sides discussed reopening the Embassy of Poland in Ulaanbaatar and hosting a regular meeting of the MongoliaPoland intergovernmental commission soon.
Dzonsa stressed that active cooperation between inter-parliamentary groups is important for the two nations to strengthen bilateral ties, and underlined that he will focus on deepening economic, education, culture and social protection cooperation, and seeking collaboration opportunities between other sectors.
The Polish delegates also held a meeting with Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports Ts.Tsogzolmaa to exchange views on ongoing and upcoming cooperation activities between educational sectors of the two countries.
