Nuudelchin Mongol festival to start next week
The Nuudelchin Mongol or the Nomadic Mongol Festival will be organized at the Mongolian Naadam Complex in Khui Doloon Khudag from August 11 to 15. The Ulaanbaatar Department of Culture and Arts organizes the event annually in cooperation with the Department of Physical Fitness and Sports.
For the 13th year, under Nuudelchin Mongol 2018, popularized by the name Folk Arts Festival, the Festival of Intangible Cultural Heritage and the sixth National Sports Festival will also commence simultaneously.
Some 700 folk talents, artisans and 2,000 national sport athletes from 21 provinces and nine districts of Ulaanbaatar will participate in the festival.
This year’s Festival of Intangible Cultural Heritage will be organized under the framework of UNESCO’s “Convention on the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage of India 2003” within five topics:
1. Mother tongue and oral traditions and expressions
2. Craft
3. Native Arts
4. Knowledge and understanding of natural and aquatic systems 5. Selection of the traditional talents, ceremonies and festivals
The first round selections of the Cultural Intangible Heritage Festival were held from June 5 to 25 in 21 provinces and the capital. The second round will be held in Khui Doloon Khudag from August 11 to 15 during the festival. The shortlisted will present 26 different types of traditional culture and over 100 types of sacred and traditional heritages.
Furthermore, Khui Doloon Khudag will host a trade fair for local brand products as well as traditional products from each province. Numerous competitions will be held, including horseback archery, chess, ankle bone shooting and horse polo.
