Commodity prices steadily decline

Common commodity prices have dropped by 1.8 percent compared to last month and 0.2 percent over the past week, reported the Ulaanbaata­r Statistics Office.

The report stated that prices of three types of goods rose as seven types of goods saw a price drop and prices of 27 goods remained the same as the previous week as of August 1.

The office set out teams to observe prices of 37 types of goods in 17 markets and shopping centers.

MEAT

Compared to the previous week, prices for bone-in mutton dropped by 27 MNT to 7,315 MNT per kg, bone-in beef was down by 22 MNT to 8,710 MNT per kg and bone-in horse meat by 500 MNT to 6,375 MNT per kg, while filleted mutton went up by 41 MNT per kg.

Prices of a kg of filleted beef and bone-in goat meat remained the same over the week, at 10,518 MNT and 6,375 MNT on average.

Compared to last month, the prices for bone-in mutton increased by 2.9 percent, bone-in beef by 4.1 percent, filleted beef by 2.7 percent, bone-in horse meat by 6.7 percent, and bone-in goat meat by 0.1 percent.

VEGETABLES

Prices for most vegetables have decreased since July, except for potato prices, which went up by three percent.

The prices for carrots declined by 1.7 percent, onions by 2.9 percent, cabbages by 16.2 percent, and beets dropped by 24.5 percent. On average, carrots are being sold for 2,480 MNT per kg. Potato prices rose by 3.1 percent over the past week, averaging 1,600 MNT to 2,099 MNT per kg. Potato costs cheapest at Max Supermarke­t at 1,600 MNT, whereas Nomin Supermarke­t is selling it at the highest rate, specifical­ly 2,099 MNT.

OTHER STAPLES

A loaf of bread costs 1,100 to 1,210 MNT in markets across the capital. It’s sold for the most affordable price of 1,100 MNT in Khuchit Shonkhor Market, Bumbugur Trade Center and Orgil Supermarke­t but for the least affordable price of 1,210 MNT in Sansar Supermarke­t.

The price of a kg of white rice is fluctuatin­g between 2,500 MNT and 2,350 MNT. It is cheapest in Khuchit Shonkhor Market, Bumbugur Trade Center, Bars Market, Tavan Erdene Market, Khar Khorin Market, and Bayanzurkh Market, but most expensive in Max Supermarke­t.

Millet prices averaged 1,984 MNT per kg as of August 1. Imported sour cream cost 5,200 to 5,300 MNT.

The price of vegetable oil declined by 0.29 percent, or by 3,403 MNT, since July 25.

Sugar is sold at the highest rate of 3,670 MNT in Max Supermarke­t but at the lowest rate of 2,000 MNT in Khuchit Shonkhor, Bars and Tavan Erdene markets.

The average price of an egg is 275 MNT.
